What is Autism?
The official name for autism is autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by differences in social communication, sensory processing, and patterns of behavior. It is described as a ‘spectrum’ because it is categorized into levels such as Autism Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, although autism presents differently in every individual on the spectrum.

Dean Boyce is an author, public speaker, and the founder of Autism Promise. Diagnosed with Level 1 autism spectrum disorder at a young age, he dedicates his life to raising autism acceptance and education through his public speaking, and advocacy. When not speaking or writing, Dean volunteers with local organizations and researches his favorite subjects of history, economics, and poverty reduction.
